Planning Factory Recognizes ‘the helpers’: Thanks to our Worldwide, Community-Oriented Clients!
“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news,” Mr. Rogers said to his television neighbors,
“my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”
Planning Factory Bermuda’s International Special Event Productions have allowed us to partner with world-class businesses & industries around the globe. Working through trust and communication with our team, clients and suppliers, we continue to plan upcoming productions for when we can safely be together for social and business events.
Our friendships are reflected in the below stories as we continue to correspond with members across all our communities, Bermuda and International. We are thinking of all our friends & taking the opportunity to share some of our favorite ‘helpers’.
The Hotel Du Pont in Wilmington, Delaware donated food & household necessities to non-profit The Sunday Breakfast Mission. The historic hotel donated a large supply of eggs, milk, vegetables, fruits, and other items estimated to feed more than 350 people. The Sunday Breakfast Mission is a non-profit organization who has been helping food-insecure residents for 127 years.
We have partnered with businesses up & down the Delaware Waterfront, all of whom have been impacted by the quarantine. Completed in 2019, Wilmington invested $23 million dollars to build this outstanding trail to expand the vitality of The Waterfront. Get out into the Spring sunshine & enjoy the natural beauty: The Jack Markell Trail connects the Wilmington Riverfront and New Castle Battery Park along an off-road pathway consisting of boardwalks & other pathways.
Our event & creative partners in Boston, Lombardo’s Events & their catering company Lombardo’s To Go are both helping in their own ways.
Lombardo’s To Go has also set up a fund to send food to healthcare workers. “For just $10 you can make a healthcare professional’s day! They are working tirelessly each and every day so why not send them some love! Choose your donation amount and Lombardos To Go will deliver lunch to one of the local MA hospitals in your name!”
HSBC Banks: Financial Security in Bermuda
Before the Shelter in Place was in effect for Bermuda, HSBC Bank has been doing everything possible to protect & serve the community. They started with having special banking hours for seniors & expanding their online services. For long-term support, HSBC has committed to lowering fees & creating financial shelters for individuals & businesses.
One of our home-away-from-home is the Hamilton Princess in Bermuda. Their 5-star service & cuisine, world-class art collection, & beautiful amenities make this location a go-to place on-island; we bring groups from around the world to enjoy the luxurious “Pink “Palace”. We were overjoyed to see that they strategically lit the exterior to have big hearts. “Hamilton Princess & Beach Club expressed solidarity with those affected by the global coronavirus pandemic across the world by lighting select rooms across the property to form hearts. These symbols will be left in place until the hotel reopens.”
Loren + Butterfield Food Drive
The Bank of Butterfield is donating $150,000 for a program with The Loren to deliver healthy meals to senior citizens and vulnerable persons in Bermuda. Having partnered with both the bank & luxurious, impeccable hotel, we could not be more proud of this partnership.
“Butterfield will provide $150,000 in initial funding for the purchase of food. 500 meals will be prepared daily by The Loren’s culinary team and distributed to a network of local churches and community organisations who have identified elderly and in-need persons. The meals will be distributed daily until at least 30 April. The programme will be extended as needed.”
“Bermuda has supported Butterfield for 162 years, and we are doing what we can to support the people of Bermuda during this time of heightened need. We have lowered interest rates on personal loans and mortgages and introduced automatic payment deferrals on personal and small business loans, residential mortgages and credit cards.”
Stephen King, owner of The Loren, said, “Since opening our doors in 2017, it has been our pleasure to serve not only visitors to our island, but also to host celebrations, family dinners and get-togethers for local residents. We are proud to have become a part of the fabric of this community, and have a great team of Bermudian employees, as well.”
We have set the stage to celebrate with Bacardi’s success, arranged complex multi-day meetings for their global team, & designed decor for their world headquarters: we have always been proud to partner with the ethical standards of this world-class brand. Bacardi Limited has established themselves as one of the biggest contributors during the COVID pandemic: though their industry was uniquely hit with bars closing, they have contributed $3 million to support their community of bartenders who have been displaced without work. They have also diverted their spirits production to make hand sanitizer, including Bacardi & Angel’s Envy. Individual brands within the portfolio have made contributions as well, including Grey Goose & Patron. Follow their hashtag #RaiseYourSpirits to follow their great giving.
Stay home & stay safe! We look forward to seeing everyone when this current crisis is over & raising a glass with our community to thank all the Helpers; your generosity of spirit is to be applauded.
